Marie Celina Casimir's Obituary
Marie Celina Casimir, affectionately known to everyone as Bibè, opened her eyes for the first time on May 7th, 1933, in Gros-Morne, Haiti. She was the daughter of the late Thélusma Casimir and Anne Petit-Homme. She is preceded in death by her siblings Claude Casimir, Marguerite Belmar, Mirene Casimir, Delouis Belmar, Gelimene Florestant Belmar, and Paul Rosny Casimir.
Bibè is succeeded by her sister Ginette Casimir, and her children and in-laws: Jean Claude Douze and Yanick, Gerald Casimir and Anisette, Pierre-Louis Boisrond and Viergeta, and Immacula Forbes-Grant and Stephen. What is a world without grandchildren? Bibè was blessed with 10: Joanne C. Douze, Steven Douze, Charles Adderley, Racaja Rolle-Curry, Anaika Casimir, Nnenna St-Pierre, Lynda Cangé, Isaiah Douze, Jaden Louis Boisrond, and Sierra Mercina Boisrond; and 1 great-grandson Kamren Joachim. Bibè is also survived by her numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bibè was a self-made businesswoman and entrepreneur of her generation. She visited the countryside often to gather and sell her goods from her land. She was an avid churchgoer, evidenced with her nightly scripture reading of Psalms 23, Psalms 46, and her favorite of all Psalms 136. Bibè loved to dance, and she wasn't shy about it. There are some footages of her doing just that which will be treasured and cherished. Bibè was also a great cook, and she enjoyed feeding people. Bibè was a well-traveled woman having lived in the Bahamas for a few months in her youth, moved to the US in her later years. She has lived and/or visited Florida, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Canada, and settled in Delaware permanently.
Bibè closed her eyes for the last time on Tuesday March 28, 2023, in Wilmington, DE. She was 89 years old. This is not a farewell but a simple "See you later."
Rest in Peace Bib and may your soul find comfort in God.
