Marie Pauline Valentin's Obituary
Marie Pauline Valentin peacefully departed this earthly life on May 16, 2026 at 12:26 a.m. Born on April 10, 1954 in Petionville, Haiti to her loving parents Rosalia Duverneau and Jean Baptiste Dorcuis. Marie was the devoted wife of Simeon Valentin.
Despite a lifelong struggle with heart complications, Marie lived a thriving 72 years, touching countless souls from her birth country of Haiti to the Haitian community of Delmarva where she was often compared to a Mother Teresa because of the selfless love she spread.
Marie's heart was her greatest challenge and her greatest testimony. For many years, she battled with a weak heart that caused her pain and uncertainty. But the very heart that was once so fragile become the strongest part of her. It never gave up on her, and it never gave out on her. Through every hardship, every trial, and every moment when she could have stopped, her heart kept beating, kept believing, and kept her going. In the end, it was the last thing to stop - a true reflection of the strength, resilience, and determination she carried every single day. Her heart may have been weak, but the love inside of it was unstoppable.
Marie loved to sing in church choirs where she was the stylist and leading figure in most. She was well known for her beautiful voice, signature dance moves and her ability to lead with joy and excellence. When she wasn't in church, she loved spending time with her husband Simeon Valentin and her three children Rachel, Naomi and Kline. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Lydia, Elayna, Alex and Kareem Valentin.
Marie enjoyed traveling to new places, visiting amusement parks, dining out, and most of all, dressing up. She was known to buy at least 2 - 3 new dresses a month, always embracing her fashionista side with elegance and grace.
But even with her love for beautiful things, Marie's heart was always for others. She would drop everything in a heartbeat to give to less fortunate, especially in her beloved Haiti where she helped build multiple churches and homes. Her body was in America, but her heart remained in Haiti whenever they called in need.
Marie was a woman of deep faith and a mighty prayer warrior. Her relationship with God was the foundation of her life. She prayed without ceasing and interceded for herself and numerous others. Her faith, strength, and prayers were a source of comfort for all who knew her.
To her family near and far, she truly loved you all - those by blood and those who became family through love and loyalty. Her kindness, devotion and prayers will continue to live on in every heart she touched.
