Marion E. Harrison, Jr.'s Obituary
Marion E. Harrison, Jr. Easton, Marion Elwood Harrison, Jr. of Easton, formerly of St. Michaels, died at his home on Friday December 4, 2015. He was 66. Born on April 13, 1949 to the late Sarah Josephine “Toodles†Newnam Harrison and M. Elwood Harrison, Sr. Marion was raised in St. Michaels where he attended public school. His passions were football, basketball, baseball, fishing and hunting. After graduating from St. Michaels High School in 1967, he enlisted in the U.S.A.F. where he served from June 1967 until December 1970, when he received an honorable discharge. While serving during the Vietnam era, he received the Vietnam service medal, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal and the U.S.A.F. Commendation medal while serving with the 635th support group in Thailand. Following his release from active duty, Marion came home and began working in the family masonry business, which soon would become known as Elwood Harrison & Son. During the 1970s, he pursued his passion of sailing Chesapeake Bay log canoes, with Capt. James H. Wilson on “The Magicâ€. While sailing, the crew received the First High Point Trophy and the Governor’s Cup. He was a member of the Miles River Yacht Club serving as Commodore in 1984. Marion is survived by his wife of 39 years; Cynthia Bridges Harrison, a daughter; Meca Harrison Connolly and her husband Curt, three Grandchildren; Colby Bay Haddaway, Sterling “Logan†Jones and Mecala Alexis “Lexi†Jones, one sister; Lana Harrison Batten, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a close family friend, Mike Collins. Friends may call at the Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. St. Michaels, MD. on Thursday evening from 5:30 to 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held at St. Lukes United Methodist Church, St. Michaels, MD. on Friday December 11, 2015 at 1:00PM. Burial will be private.
