Martha Caroline Hopkins' Obituary
Martha Caroline Hopkins, of Easton, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Envoy at Denton. She was 96.
She was born on December 21, 1919, a daughter of the late Levin Henry and Christiana Schevel. She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond W. Hopkins.
Martha held various jobs during her lifetime, one of her favorites was driving the school bus especially for the elementary children. She was later employed as a circulation worker for the Star Democrat Newspaper in Easton. She enjoyed reading, crafts, putting together puzzles and growing flowers especially violets. She was a member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department and the Easton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxillary, where she held various positions including President. Martha attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston, where she was a member and served as a Sunday school teacher for a number of years.
She is survived by four children Larry Hopkins and his wife Phyllis of Easton, Robert Hopkins of Easton, Sherman Hopkins and his wife Linda of Martin City, MT, and Karen Fay Karas and her husband Stanley of Fort Calhoun, NE; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a sister Ann Lord of Seaford; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by four siblings, Evelyn Tucker, Shirley Bear, William Henry, and Levin Henry, Jr.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston with the Reverend Chuck Braband officiating. Family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service.
