Martha R. (Reid) Hudson's Obituary
Martha R. Hudson McDaniel, Martha Reid Hudson passed away, with Family at her side on Monday, November 10, 2014. She was 92. Born on January 21, 1922 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late E. Emmet Reid and Margaret Kendall Reid. She married Charles C. Hudson in 1946 and lived in the Baltimore area until 1974 when they moved to McDaniel. Mr. Hudson died in 1993. As a child, she attended The Roland Park Country School. Martha was a Graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with post-graduate work there and at the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore. She has studied with Edgar Whitney among other watercolor notables. She taught art at the Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore for 11years, and since moving to the Eastern Shore in 1974 has taught at the Academy of Arts Museum in Easton and conducted workshops in Tuscany, Greece and Provence. Martha displayed her watercolors at the Waterfowl Festival in Easton for 27 years. She is one of six artists known as the “Traveling Brushes†who have traveled and painted since 1984. Mrs. Hudson is survived by her children: Charles R. Hudson of New Hampshire, Leigh H. Creighton of Washington State and Arizona, and Wesley R. Hudson of McDaniel, Maryland; and Two Grandchildren: Laurel Hudson of Colorado and Parker Hudson of Maryland. In addition to her Parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Alfred G. Reid and Emmet K. Reid. A Celebration of her life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, St. Michaels, on Saturday December 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Evergreen Cove, P.O. Box 744, 770 Port Street, Easton, MD 21601. Arrangements are by the Ostrowski Funeral Home, St. Michaels .
