Mary Ellen (Andrews) Coady's Obituary
St. Michaels, Mary Ellen Andrews Coady, of St. Michaels died at Candle Light Cove in Easton on Sunday, October 25, 2015. She was 88. Born on July 20, 1927 in Pikesville MD, she was the daughter of the late Francis E. and E. Pauline Smith Andrews. She grew up in Baltimore Co; where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Glyndon, MD; then St. Charles secondary school in Pikesville, MD. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and Free School in Emmitsburg, MD; then attended Mt. St. Agnes College. She worked as a Legal Secretary for her uncle Michael Smith, where she met her future husband, John T. Coady, a Baltimore attorney. They were married on June 30, 1951 and made their home in the Campus Hills area of Towson in Baltimore Co. for 35 years. During this time they enjoyed spending their summers in Dewey Beach, DE with their family and friends. In 1986 they moved to St. Michaels, on Solitude Pond Farm. Mr. Coady died in 2011. Mrs. Coady enjoyed gardening, entertaining friends, and spending time with her family. She was an avid Orioles fan, and loved attending Colts games with her husband and friends. She had a penchant for proper grammar and utilized those skills for many years as the editor of the Campus Hills Community Newspaper for which she received many accolades from the Community Association. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish of Easton, the St. Andrews Society, and the Navy League. She is survived by her children; Paula C. Petry of St. Michaels, John T. “Jack†Coady, Jr. of Easton, four grandchildren; Christopher W. Petry, Phoenix, MD; Andrew T. Petry, Halethorpe, MD; William T. Petry, Reisterstown, MD; and Mary E. Coady, of Easton, MD. Four great grandchildren; Kendall A. Petry, Madelyn A. Petry, James T. Petry, and Taylor M. Petry. Also survived by two wonderful sister’s-in law; Julie Andrews (Richard) of Baltimore, and Annaruth Andrews (Thomas) of Munich, Germany, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers; Frank, Michael, John, Thomas, and Richard; and one sister; Elizabeth “Betty†Sweeney. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at the St. Michaels Mission Church, Lincoln Ave; St. Michaels, MD; on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00AM. Reception to follow. Burial will be at a later date.
