Mary Helen Holmes' Obituary
Mary H. Holmes St. Michaels, Mary Helen Holmes died at her home in St. Michaels, on Friday, July 22, 2016. She was 75. Born in Cordova, MD. on July 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Albert Young, and Hilda H. Young. Mrs. Holmes was educated in Talbot co. where she attended Moton High School. Later she began working in the Local seafood processing house’s, shucking clams, and picking crabs. She later worked at various restaurants in St. Michaels, finally she worked at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, where she gave demonstrations on the art of crab picking. Mary was a great cook and was especially known for her sweet potato pies. She was a devoted foster mother for more than 20 years. Mrs. Holmes was a member of Union United Methodist Church, St. Michaels. She leaves to mourn her children; Larry Jerome Holmes, Dale Rodney Holmes, and Patricia Ramona Holmes, all of St. Michaels, grandchildren; Tianna Holmes, James Holmes, Dale Holmes, Jr., and Bobby Neale, one sister; Myrtle Young also of St. Michaels, and a brother Leon Haynes of Centreville. In addition she leaves her nephews whom she helped raise; Wayne A. Young, Walter L. Young, special niece Sharon Young, loving sister in law Velma Young and a host of many more cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary also leaves to mourn very special friends; Patricia Kelly-Gene, Michelle Zachs-Eric, Vivian Jones, Alice Adams and Ethel-Lee Davis. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Young, Albert Young Maurice Young three sisters, Anita Young, Mildred Young, and Elizabeth Young, one niece China Young, and one nephew; Richard Young and fiancé Horst Wagener. Funeral Services will be held at the Union United Methodist Church, St. Michaels, on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 1:00PM. Where a viewing will be held from 11:30 until 1:00PM Burial will be in the Thomas Cemetery, St. Michaels, MD. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society 29533 Canvasback Drive P.O. Box 783 Easton MD 21601, or to your local March of Dimes.
