Mary E. Lane's Obituary
Mary Emily Lane of Preston, MD passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at UMSMC at Easton. She was 93.
She was born Nov. 29, 1920 in Barneck, Dorchester Co., MD, the daughter of the late George Keyes Vickers and Emily LeCompte Spedden Vickers. Her husband, Joseph Milton Lane, preceded her in death on July 24, 1996.
She worked at the former Preston Trucking as mail clerk for 22 years. She also had worked at Leggetts in Cambridge as shoe buyer, the former Cambridge Bakery, Preston Post Office, and as cafeteria manager at Preston Elementary School. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston. Mary enjoyed cooking and loved her family.
She is survived by her daughter Emily Jo Blades and her husband Robert D. with whom she had made her home, devoted grandson Robert "Brent" Blades of Preston, beloved dog Bingo, several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Charlotte Vickers of Hurlock, and cousins Walter Vickers and Robert Vickers, both of Cambridge. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Bratton Vickers, Sarah Dayton, Gordon L. Vickers, and Harold Vickers.
Funeral services will be held on Wed. July 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home with Rev. Nevin Crouse officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wed. from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
