Mary Lowery Thomas' Obituary
MARY KILMON LOWERY THOMAS
TILGHMAN, MD - Mary, age 85, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, at home
surrounded by her family. She was born on August 20, 1938, to the late Harvey Larrimore
Kilmon and Hazel Willey Kilmon Haddaway. Mary was raised and spent most of her childhood in Newcomb, MD. She married her first husband, Warren Elmer Lowery, in 1955 and moved to Tilghman to start a family.
Mary was a loving wife and mother of three children. She worked at the Tilghman Packing
Company processing seafood and became a commercial crabber, working the water in her own boat. Being the outdoor type, she played softball on the team, Tilghman Ticks, back in the day when each little town in the area fielded a women's softball team. She and her best friend, Verna Harrison, became licensed and purchased their own motorcycles for their riding enjoyment every weekend. As someone who loved being around people, she worked as a waitress at several local restaurants for many years.
After 43 years of marriage, her first husband passed away. She met Donald E. Thomas of
Preston and they were married on May 9, 2009. They became members of the local Moose
Lodge, joined a bowling team at the Easton Bowling Lanes and enjoyed many nights of dancing and bingo.
She took great pride in her home, her cooking and meticulously maintained her lawn. However, the most important thing to her heart was the love and devotion of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Thomas, her children, Kathy (Les) Frampton, Colleen (Roy) Sadler and Darrin Lowery, her grandchildren, Jack, Jacob and Joshua Lowery, her step-children, Dale (Ruth) Thomas and Kenny (Rita) Thomas, her siblings, Jean Kimmey, Daniel Kilmon and Florence Hoffman, and several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents and her first husband, her grandchildren, Philip Sadler and Emma, Quinn and Blythe Lowery, her step-daughter, Brenda Andrews and her brother, Donald Kilmon.
Mary's funeral service will be held at St. John's Chapel, 5160 Black Walnut Point Road,
Tilghman, MD, on Tuesday, February 20th, at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be at Olivet Cemetery, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 304 S. Talbot Street, St. Michaels, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Talbot Hospice Foundation, Inc., 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601, St. John's Chapel, 5160 Black Walnut Point Road, Tilghman, MD 21671 or to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Framptom Funeral Home-Ostrowski Chapel of St. Michaels.
