Mary Bernese Bergdall's Obituary
Mary Bernese Willis Bergdall died on December 9, 2009. She was born on January 1, 1923 in Federalsburg, Maryland. Her parents were Ethel Wright and Milton Lee Willis. She was a graduate of Randolph Macon Woman’s College and earned a Master’s degree from Richmond Polytechnic Institute. While living in Pawley’s Island, SC she taught Special Education for several years.
After retiring, she and her husband pursued her interest in genealogy by writing and publishing the history of her family. Mrs. Bergdall was a charter member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Pawley’s Island, SC and enjoyed many activities at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Luther Henry Bergdall, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia D. and W. Steven Johnson of Columbia, SC and daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn W. and Claude Broome of Marietta, GA.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 1p.m. at Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg with Rev. David Heistand officiating.
