Mary G. Hopkins' Obituary
Mary Gannon Hopkins of Preston, MD passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD. She was 73 years old.
She was born Sept. 11, 1936 in Easton, the daughter of the late Captain Pete and Amelia Murray Gannon.
She had retired from the Caroline County Board of Education as a Bus Driver Assistant after about 23 years of service. She was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed knitting, and adored her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Leonard Hopkins, whom she married on April 15, 1960, four children, Lee North and her husband Walt, of Preston, Leonard “Lenny” Hopkins, Jr., and his wife Carmel, of East New Market, Jo Ann Fike and her husband David, of Preston, and Jane Towers and her husband Jeff of Federalsburg; nine grandchildren Jim North, Kelly Jo North, Gregory North, Lacy Hopkins, Brad Hopkins, Garey Fike, Chad Fike, Jenna Towers, Jacob Towers and one step-grandchild Brandi; a sister Betty Riley of Easton and a brother Pete Gannon, Jr. of Georgia, a niece Holly Shoemaker and a nephew Tom Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Staelhi officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wed. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
