Melvin L. Patchett, Sr.'s Obituary
Melvin Leonard Patchett, Sr. passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 at The Pines in Easton. He was 95.
He was born in Easton, Maryland on December 1, 1915 the son of the Robert Duke Patchett and Ella Eberhardt McPheeters. He was preceded in death by his wives, Maude Dobson Patchett and Doris Horney Banning Patchett, from Grasonville, whom he married in April of 1954 in which they were married for fifty years.
Melvin was a famer most of his life until 1952 when he was hired by the State Highway Administration and retired after 25 years. He was a member of the Easton Church of God. He was a devoted husband and father.
Melvin is survived by five children, Robert T. Patchett and his wife, Charlotte of Church Hill, MD, David H. Patchett and his wife, Carolyn of Pasadena, MD, and E. Neal Patchett and his wife, Pat of Holt, AL, and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Patchett of Hurlock, Robert E. Banning and his wife, Pam of Georgetown, DE, Donna Banning Dixon and her husband Pastor Dwayne G. Dixon, of Easton, nine grandchildren, Robin Haddaway, Leonard Patchett, Robert Lee Patchett, Robert Patchett, Jr., Theresa Weighman, Michelle Uhl, Bob Banning, Jr., Michelle Banning Robinson, Daryl Dwayne Dixon, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great great-great granddaughter. Three half-brothers, William D. Patchett of Rhodesdale, MD, Clyde E. “Doc” Patchett of Preston, MD, Irvin McPheeters of Peabody, Kansas, two half-sisters, Virginia Hampton and Nellie Cohee of Boise, Idaho and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a son, M. Leonard Patchett, Jr., a brother, Kenneth Patchett, five half-brothers, Roland, R.J., Howard, and Herbert Patchett, and William McPheeters.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Easton Church of God with Senior Pastor Keith Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton. The family will receive friends at the church
from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby “RJ” Patchett, Dale Patchett, William “Jr.” Patchett, Leonard Patchett, Bob Banning Jr., and Daryl Dixon.
