Michael Grimes' Obituary
Michael Grimes of Preston passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Easton. He was 69 years old.
He was born on August 14, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of Marjorie Loock Grimes of Selbyville, DE, and the late George Grimes.
Mike graduated from Charlotte Hall Military Academy class of 1961 and continued his education at University of Maryland with a degree in engineering. He was a member of Assateague Sport Mobile Association, Ducks Unlimited, Amateur Trapshooting Association, National Rifle Association, and Surf Anglers of Ocean City. He enjoyed scuba diving, sailing, fishing, hunting, and anything associated with the outdoors. He was a loyal and loving family man who always gave of himself in order to help others and always had a wicked sense of humor.
Besides his mother he is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Carla Furness Grimes, five children, David Michael Grimes and his wife Maria of Centreville, Jeffrey Craig Grimes of Greensboro, Kelly Elizabeth Fairbanks and her husband, Charles of Federalsburg, Jason Andrew Grimes of Princess Anne (Cynthia Barnes of Reliance), Jennifer Espil and her husband, Jeramie of Greensboro, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother, William Grimes and his wife, Laura K. Grimes, a nephew, Patrick Grimes and his wife, Vera, a great-neice, Fina Grimes, a great-nephew, Damian Grimes all of Selbyville, DE, a his mother-in-law, Carolyn LaVern Furness of Catonsville.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8 , 2013 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston with The Reverend Thomas Becker officiating. Please dress casually to the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 216 North Main Street, Federalsburg, MD 21632.
