Michael was a friendly young man with a fantastic sense of humor. I saw Michael everyday at CCTC and looked forward to his witty comments. He was a beautiful young man who was acting in a selfless manner when he was taken away from us. I pass by where he sat in his Information systems classes everyday and can't help but think of him and his heroic attempt to help his friend. He set aside every thought of himself and loved another more than himself. Not only was this an act of heroism, it was a true act of love. Michael was a former student of mine in the Auto Tech program at CCTC, and he excelled in the program. Many students and staff members knew him and enjoyed their time with him. He was always willing to help with anything that needed to be done, and in his compliant and unassuming way he touched many. Sadly, he was taken from us much too soon. We will all miss him.

Thoughts and prayers are with you all. I sat with Jordan as the search went on for Mike. I talked with Jordan about Boy Scouts and dogs etc., anything to help keep him distracted. My heart aches for each one of you and everytime I walk down to the pier or cast out my rod I will think of a boy I never met simply because he was a hero for wanting to save a friend who he felt was in need of his help.
