Mildred R. Magee's Obituary
Mildred Russell Magee of Easton, Md., passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at UMSMC at Easton. She was 83.
She was born in Elwood, Md., on October 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Forrest Russell, Sr., and Helen Jones Russell.
Mildred graduated from Lockerman High School in 1949 and then received her Bachelor’s Degree from Bowie State College in 1954. After graduation, she began her career as a teacher in Cordtown and later in Federalsburg Elementary School, where she taught for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Preston where she served as a member of the United Methodist Women, an usher, and helped with the hospitality committee. She was also a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene “Jimmy” Magee of Easton, a daughter, Eugenia Caldwell and her husband Richard, Jr. of Easton, two sisters, Jeanette Gould of Fort Washington and Helen Montgomery and her husband Randy of Bowie, a brother, Irvin Russell and his wife Sandra of Bethlehem, two sisters-in-law, Iris Hooper of Federalsburg,Md. and Connie Hawkins of Philadelphia, Pa., three brothers-in-law, Kendall Magee and his wife Louise of Federalsburg and Wayne Magee and his wife Lorraine of Bridgeton, NJ, and Eddie Sampson of Hurlock, Md., three grandsons, Brandon, Aaron and Evan, a God daughter, Angela Hull, an adopted daughter, Valerie Ellis, and an exceptional caregiver, LaTrisha Carter. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Magee, a brother, Forrest Russell, Jr., and a sister, Lucretia Sampson.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary UMC in Preston,Md., with Rev. Darlene Dixon officiating. Friends may visit with the family Friday at the church from 6-8:00 p.m. and from 9-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
