Miriam Dyer's Obituary
Miriam Dyer of Federalsburg passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Genesis Health Care - The Seaford Center in Seaford, DE. She was 86.
She was born on September 30, 1937 in Buckhannon, West Virginia; the daughter of the late James Orville Butcher and Dorothy Hatfield Butcher.
She graduated from Lost Creek High School and later received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Glenville State College.
She was married to James Dyer on June 2, 1958. She began her career working for Carroll County Public Schools; Sykesville High School Teacher from 1960-1965, and later moved to Federalsburg and taught at Colonel Richardson High School from 1969-1974, and was then an Instructional Assistant from 1976-1977, Instructional Assistant at Denton Elementary from 1977-1978, Secretary at Federalsburg Elementary from August 1978- June 1982, Taught Business Education at Colonel Richardson High School from August 1982 and retired in July of 1997.
Miriam was a member of Christ Church of Federalsburg, the ADK Sorority, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Homemakers Club. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, quilting and crochet. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Dyer of Federalsburg; two children: Pat Dyer and his wife Beverly of Federalsburg and Jennifer Baker and her husband Douglas of Willards; four grandchildren: Rachel Breeding and her husband Travis, Taylor Sturgill and her husband Jonathan, Colin Baker and Conner Baker; and three great grandchildren: Trenton Breeding, Trace Breeding and Rilyn Breeding.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings: James Butcher, Virginia Allen and Mary Allen.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 12:00 at Christ Church in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Church.
