Morris G. Fluharty Sr.'s Obituary
Morris G. Fluharty, Sr. formerly of Preston, MD passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Caroline Nursing Home. He was 82.
He was born on October 7, 1930 in Preston, the son of the late Arthur C. Fluharty and Mary Patrick Fluharty. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis L. Fluharty on May 4, 2004.
He served in the merchant marines. He was a carpenter specializing in roofing and siding. He was also a poultry farmer and had received awards for his outstanding poultry growing. Morris had attended Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and Bethesda United Methodist Church.
He is survived by four children, Dixie Landry of Texas, Donna Alpkin of Indiana, Cheryl Stewart of Texas, and Morris G. Fluharty, Jr. of Alabama; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother Merritt Fluharty of Federalsburg and a sister Oleida Willey of Hurlock and several nieces and nephews, and special friends Wesley Cohee and his mother, Bo Cohee. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Fluharty and Earl Fluharty, and a sister Agnes Payne.
Graveside services will be held on Sat. Oct. 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston with Rev. Glenn Staehli, Sr. officiating.
