Nellie Elizabeth (Sherwood) Lewis' Obituary
Nellie E. Lewis Easton, Nellie E. Lewis of Easton died at her home on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. She was 83. Born near Trappe on February 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Howard W. and Gertrude Brown Sherwood. Nellie attended Talbot co. public schools, having graduated from the Idlewild School at five corners. On March 10, 1951 she married Percy B. Lewis a Talbot Co. farmer, they made their home on the family farm on Kingston Landing road. Later they moved to the Preston area where they continued to farm and raise their family. Mr. Lewis died on October 4, 2011. Mrs. Lewis then moved to Easton. She was a life member of the First Baptist Church of Easton. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her children; Jack Lewis (Teresa) of Preston, Dale Lewis (Lee) of Severna Park, MD; Laird Lewis (Carolyn) of Federalsburg, Tyler Lewis (Denise) of Preston and Bryant Lewis of Easton, with whom she made her home. Also survived by 2 Step-Grandchildren and a special niece; Mollie Connolly (Charlie) of Easton. In addition to her parents, and beloved husband, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by a son; William Lewis who died on April 25, 1989 and her sisters; Esther S. Trice, Martha S. Callahan, and Dorothy D. Sherwood. A memorial service will be held at the first Baptist Church, Idlewild Ave., Easton, on, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00AM. Where friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the first Baptist Church, Easton, MD. 21601. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by the Ostrowski Funeral Home of St. Michaels.
