Nona V. Dockins' Obituary
To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven.
Nona Virgie Dennis Dockins was born on June 1, 1932 to the late John and Maggie Smith Dennis, and was wife to the late Phillip Dockins, Sr. She departed this life on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge, MD.
She was raised in Dorchester County, where she received her public school education. Known to many as a kind, wise, sweet lady, her departure brings us much sorrow. Nonetheless, we bow to the plans of the almighty God, who smiles down on all his children and wipes the tears from their eyes. He has promised us eternal life in his great kingdom, free from tears and sadness. He will personally and softly guide us into his great beyond to reign with him forever.
In her passing she leaves footprints in the sand that will be remembered by her six children: Joyce Dennis, Ralph Dockins Sr., Phillip Dockins Jr., Robert Dockins, Rose Fosque, and Lilly Ballard, 12 grandchildren, including Dawanda Flagg whom she raised as her own, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her six siblings: two sisters, Lula Wooford and Emily Jackson, and four brothers, Clarence, Winfield, James, and Elmer Dennis.
A visitation will be held on January 7, 2019, at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, MD, from 11am-1pm, with a graveside service to follow at Maryland Eastern Shore Veteran’s Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
