Norma Lee Fairbank's Obituary
Preston; Norma Lee Fairbank of Preston, died at U.M.S.M.C. at Dorchester, on Monday, January 4, 2021. She was 87.
Born in Easton, MD; on September 27, 1933 she was the daughter of the late, James T. and Josephine Prchal Roe. Mrs. Fairbank grew up on the “Rich Neck Manor Farm” in Claiborne. She attended St. Michaels High School, where she was a graduate of the class of 1952. On December 25, 1953 she married Samuel O. “Junior” Fairbank of Tilghman. They made their home on Tilghman raising her family and working as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the Bay Hundred area to include; Chesapeake Shellfish (now Lowe’s Wharf), The Salty Oyster, and Jerry Barrow Construction.
Mrs. Fairbank never really, in her words “retired” she just slowed down due to health reasons.
She is survived by her two children; Gail Swartz with whom she made her home in Preston, and Samuel O Fairbank III of Tilghman. 5 Grandchildren; Crissy, Chad, Elizabeth, Colby, and Jordin. 6 Great-Grandchildren; Caine, Sophia, Tyson, Kirsten, Chloe, and Kirra. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband, Samuel O. “ Junior” Fairbank, who died on January 11, 2016.
A Funeral service will be held at the Tilghman U.M.C. on Friday January 8, 2021 at 2:00PM. A walk through viewing will be held at the church from 1:00 until 1:45PM. Due to Covid restrictions we ask you to respect the family by wearing masks and understanding the limited numbers allowed in church.
