Norma Willis Nagel's Obituary
Norma Willis Nagel of Federalsburg departed this life peacefully to be with the Lord while at her home on Saturday, January 21, 2017. She was 90 years old.
Norma was the daughter of the late Harry Willis and Lelia Towers Willis. She was born
on September 20, 1926 on the Willis Family Farm and raised by her parents on the farm at Friendship, near Federalsburg. Since they lived so close to the little country school in Friendship, Norma walked to and from school to receive her early years of education. Then she attended school in Federalsburg where she graduated. After high school she worked at Provident State Bank in Preston, Maryland for several years until her marriage.
Norma met H. Ferdinand Nagel, who also lived on a farm only a few miles from where she lived, and they were married on January 5, 1946 at the church parsonage. They began their life together on their own farm also in the same area. It was there that they raised their six children; had a dairy, swine, and poultry operation along with many areas of grain and crops. Norman dedicated her life to her husband, family and worked hard until her illness in recent years. She and her husband Ferdinand celebrated 69 years of marriage together on January 5, 2015 before he passed away on January 23, 2015. Norma was a faithful member of the Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg where she attended every Sunday morning until she wasn’t able to any longer due to her illness. She will always be cherished as a loving mother and grandmother and an amazing baker and cook.
She is survived by six children, Harry C. Nagel and his wife Janice, Henry Nagel and his wife Yvonne, Richard Nagel and his wife Connie, Larry Nagel and his wife Brenda, all of Federalsburg, Nancy Sturgeon and her husband Mike of Seaford, Carol Wilkins and her husband Guy of Georgetown, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a sister, Joyce Cohee of Preston, a sister-in-law, Betty Willis of Federalsburg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie McTeer, three brothers, Robert Willis, Kenneth Willis, Harry Willis, and a sister, Virginia McMahan.
Funeral services for her will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Union United Methodist in Federalsburg with Rev. Dan Gedman and Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
