Norma Lee Brinsfield's Obituary
Norma Lee Brinsfield of Brooklyn Park, MD passed away at University of Maryland Cancer Center in Baltimore on Monday, February 12, 2007. She was 72.
She was born in Cambridge, MD, on September 6, 1934 the daughter of the late Emerson Carroll Brinsfield and Lola Payne Brinsfield.
She graduated from Hurlock High School class of 1952. She continued her education acquiring her B.S. degree from Towson State in 1963 and received a Masters Degree from University of Maryland in 1971. Norma spent her entire teaching career at George Fox Jr. Middle School, from 1967 to l992 when she retired. Her expertise was teaching Special Education.
Norma Lee attended the Brooklyn United Methodist Church in Brooklyn where she became a certified Lay Speaker, attended Monday Prayer Group, participated in Bible Study, occasionally delivered sermons, directed the choir and sometimes substituted as organist. She was a member of the Anne Arundel Retired Teachers Chorus where she sang alto. She was also a member of the Arundel Singers.
She is survived by her cousins, James Payne of Rhodesdale, Hester Marquardt of Cokesbury and Charlotte Anne Nickerson of Choptank and several other cousins. She is also survived by devoted friends, Roz Suit, Shirley Garland, and Jeanne Blake in addition to several other close friends and her church family.
Norma will be remembered by those who loved her for her genuine spirit, her sincere and generous concern for others. She possessed a quick wit, a beautiful contagious laugh and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Brookview United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim McMahan officiating. Interment will follow at Brookview Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. A Memorial Service will be held in the near future at Brooklyn United Methodist Church in Brooklyn. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Brinsfield, Dave Lankford, Bobby Lankford, Edgar Lankford, James Payne, Sr. and Charles E. Payne.
