Odessa Frances Phelps' Obituary
Odessa Frances Phelps known as “Dessa” passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, Maryland. She was 84.
She was born on June 21, 1929 in Choptank, Caroline County, Maryland, the daughter of the late Forrest E. Deneau and Nellie V. Trice Deneau.
She graduated from Preston High School and after graduation married Thomas Edward Phelps. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1980. She worked at Waverly Press for many years and later retired from J.C. Penny’s in Easton. She was an avid reader and truly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Edward Phelps, III and his wife, Pam of Preston, and James Lee Phelps and his wife, Jill of Preston, six grandchildren, Eddie Melton, Greg Graybeal, Mark Phelps, Christie Thomas, Julie Phelps, and Justin Phelps, 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Wheatley of Federalsburg and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Shawn Phelps and a brother, Forrest P. Deneau.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 1:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Pastor Dave Stewart and the Pastor Dave Tally officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
