Otto Henry Steenken, III's Obituary
Otto Henry "Hank" Steenken, 83, of Harmony, Maryland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2024 at Delaware Hospice House in Milford, Delaware. He had been a resident there for only a brief time.
Born in Harmony, Maryland on March 3, 1941, Hank was the son of the late Otto H. Steenken, II and the late Katherine (Tismar) Steenken. As a young man he was in the Civil Air Patrol and later enlisted in the Coast Guard. Hank served in the Coast Guard from 1959 - 1962 and was stationed in New Jersey. Following his honorable discharge, he remained in New Jersey and operated a Chevron service station. In 1965 Hank married the former Patricia Adriano and the following year he returned to the Eastern Shore with her. They lived and raised their family first in Eldorado and later Harmony.
Hank was a welder by trade, and he used that skill in his many hobbies and pastimes. He built dune buggies, had a stock car with his close friend Glen Reeves, and had hot rods in the Chesapeake Classic Car Club. Hank enjoyed fishing and in retirement took up crabbing. To assist his crabbing endeavors, he even built his own aluminum boat. For Hank being on or beside the Choptank was "HEAVEN". He loved his family and was devoted to his loyal dog "Braxton".
Hank is survived by his wife Patricia; his daughter Teresa Kukta and her husband Edward "Moose" Kukta; his daughter Cynthia Steenken and her companion Donnie Henry; his grandchildren Krystle Bell and her husband Javar, Andrew Willoughby and fiancée Amanda, Troy and Tommy Bowen, Ryia Russ, his great grandson Kobe Bell; his sister Peggy Thume and her husband Melvin Thume; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Hank was preceded in death by his brother Tommy Steenken, his son Joseph Henry Steenken; his daughter Tina Bowen; grandson David Bowen.
All services will be private.
Arrangements were entrusted to Framptom Funeral Home by the Coales, Federalsburg, Maryland.
