Parker Roy Bailey's Obituary
Parker Roy Bailey, of Federalsburg, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at UMSMC at Easton. He was 85.
He was born August 23, 1930 in Saugus, Massachusetts, the only son of the late Roy Willard Bailey and Ruth Elizabeth Eastman. On May 16, 1951, he married the former Emily H. Jackson. They were married for 38 years and share three children together. On July 17, 1994, he married Sheila Ann O'Brien, who preceded him in death on December 27, 2007. On October 31, 2014, he married the former Rose Mazzotta, who survives him.
He attended trade school in Haverhill, Massachusetts where he graduated with honors in 1948. Parker served in the U.S.M.C from 1949 to 1961, where he was called to Korea twice during his service. Throughout his lifetime, Parker held several positions and excelled in many fields, including head garage mechanic, the C & P Telephone Company, Ford Automotive Service Manager, Mid-Atlantic Zone Assistant Service Manager, and Senior Security Officer for a local retirement community. Parker also owned and operated several businesses in his lifetime, some of which included hotels, restaurants, and package stores. He attended many schools and training courses relating to automobile service and public relations. He was involved for over 50 years with several Volunteer Fire Departments in both Maryland and New Hampshire. He served as Lt., EMT, and chief engineer on the Greensboro ambulance squad. He also held various memberships with the State of Maryland and New Hampshire including a Liquors License and a Notary Public. He served as owner and president of the Maryland Boating Center and vice president of the Maryland Marine Center. He was an active volunteer in the “Volunteer In Police Service” program with the Maryland State Police. Parker was very active in the American Legion throughout the state of MD, where he attended many conventions, training seminars, and meetings for more than 35 years. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post #226 in Mayo from 1972 to 1973, Commander of the American Legion Post #29 in Denton from 1987 to 1988, and Adjutant of Post #29 in Denton from 1995 to 2005.
He is survived by two daughters: Sallie Kathleen LaScalea and her husband Gary of Dallas, Texas and Susan Lynne Bailey of Annapolis; a son Randy Lee Bailey of Henderson; four grandchildren: Amie Lynne LaScalea, Christiana Ann LaScalea, Anthony Robert LaScalea, and Maisy Lee Bailey; two sisters: Marcia Jane Bailey Roberts of Brentwood, New Hampshire and Joanne Bailey Morgan of Haverhill, Massachusetts; he was predeceased by a sister: Nancy Ruth Bailey of Florida in 2009. He is further survived by a devoted nephew, Wayne Roberts, and his wife Joyce of Farmington, New Hampshire; and by a very special friend, Bruce DeHoff of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Eastern Shore Veteran Cemetery in Hurlock with the Reverend Don Reynolds.
