Patricia Faith Brown's Obituary
At the age of 71 Patricia Faith Brown passed away on November 18,2024 at Delaware Hospice in Milford.
Pat was born to Wallace Layton and Mary Sue Roper in Jacksonville, FL on December 21, 1952. Her family moved to Millsboro, Delaware when she was young and there she spent her formative years.
After graduating from Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, she continued her education at Delaware Technical Community College. She worked as a banker until she became the Director at Greenwood Library.
As the Director she was also involved in the Friends of the Greenwood Library. After retiring in 2014, Pat continued to be involved for many years afterward.
Married to Michael A. Brown on December 5, 1982, they built a busy and fulfilling life in Greenwood.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, genealogy, and spending time with her family in her spare time.
The Greenwood United Methodist church became an important part of her life.
Pat is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tony Brown; her three daughters: Bonnie Workman of Milford, Nora Dunning and her husband Phillip of Magnolia, and Dawn Ratledge and her husband Ryan. Pat had six grandchildren: Keeli Mangene and her husband Anthony, Jonah Tate, Aiden Dunning, Angelo Carannante, Antonio Carannate, and James Ratledge. Her surviving family also includes: her brother Allen Layton and his wife Gerry who live in Georgia as well as her sister Kathy Hiatt and her husband Steve who live in New Mexico. The extended family from around the country included many nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family will receive friends at the Greenwood United Methodist Church on 101 West Street in Greenwood on November 23, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Reverend Charles Claybourn will officiate the funeral services that will immediately follow, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial services will follow at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood.
