Patricia "Pat" Daffin's Obituary
Patricia Ann “Pat” Daffin passed away suddenly at her home in Denton on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. She was 73 years old.
Born on November 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred “Fred” Coulbourne and Catherine “Kitty” Segars. Pat graduated from Federalsburg High School in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Staff Sergeant John “Jack” Boyce of the U.S. Air Force. She loved to share memories of her years traveling in the military with him.
In July 1983, she married William Roe “Bill” Daffin of Denton. Pat and Bill owned and operated a trucking company until Bill’s death on November 24, 2003.
Pat was a kind, selfless and giving person known for always putting others first. She loved cooking, baking and catering, but her favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends. Pat was instinctively creative. Whether the task was decorating cakes, making flower arrangements or wrapping gifts, she always had a way of adding her own special touch to everything she did. Pat was well-known for her delicious food, delightful smile and genuine heart. She will be dearly missed by her family and by many people throughout the community.
She was a loyal member of the Denton Volunteer Fire Company and spent many hours preparing the food served at their various functions. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose.
She is survived by her step-children: Barbara Cummings and Edgar Stubbs of Easton, Jeannette and David Hutchison of Cordova, John and Kay Daffin of Queen Anne. Grandchildren: Michael Hutchison, Mark Hutchison, Christine Wasylyk, Lauren Daffin, and Lisa Cunningham. Great-grandson Jarin Foster Winters. Brothers: David Coulbourne (Kathy) of Reliance, Jim (Brenda) Coulbourne, of Federalsburg, and predeceased brother Windsor Coulbourne. Nieces, nephews, and grandchildren: Michelle Engle, Missy Coulbourne, James Coulbourne III, D.W. Coulbourne, Lacee Sharp, Cindy Coulbourne, Thomas Short, Troy Short, Trey Short, Cherrie Franz, Tony Adams, Carrie Brooks, Donald Brooks, Jr., Cathy Henry, Eric Leh, Jeremy Leh, and Tiffany Henry.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at the Framptom Funeral Home, in Federalsburg, MD. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec 23. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Donations may be made to the Denton Volunteer Fire Company, 400 S. Fifth Ave., Denton, MD 21629, in memory of Pat Daffin.
