Pauline Matilda Sampson's Obituary
Pauline Matilda Sampson of East New Market, MD passed away at Dorchester General on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was 90.
She was born in East New Market on January 21, 1924, the daughter of the late Benjamin & Maude Brown. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Cannon, Sr. and Leon H. Sampson.
She graduated from St. Clair High School and continued her education at Carter Beauty School. She owned and operated Pauline’s Beauty Salon for over fifty years. She was a member of Faith Community Church since the 1940’s and held many offices over the years and had served in the choir and as choir director. Pauline enjoyed crocheting and gardening and cooking for her family.
She is survived by three children, Coldridge Worthington Brown of East New Market, William Henry Cannon (Cora) of Cambridge, Lena Rochelle Sampson of Suitland, two grandchildren, Gregory Brisco of Cambridge, Leanna Landing of Philadelphia, a brother, Daniel Brown of Dillwyn, VA, and a longtime friend, Essie Jolley-Cephas and a host of nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by six siblings, Coldridge Brown, Walter Brown, Leonard Brown, Edward Brown, Earline Brown, and Marie Conaway.
Services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Faith Community United Methodist Church in East New Market. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m on Saturday.
