Joann Collins' Obituary
Joann Mervine Collins of Greenwood passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at her home. She was 85.
She was born on March 16, 1940 in Milford, Delaware; the daughter of the late William Harold Mervine, Sr. and Mary McVey Mervine.
She graduated from Greenwood High School class of 1958 and later graduated from Milford Beauty School.
She was married on February 11, 1961 to Robert Lee Collins. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2012.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by eight Mervine siblings.
Joann was a beautician and sold Mary Kay for many years. She also worked with her husband running the Tastee-Freez and later their bison farm. In her free time, Joann enjoyed watching The Price is Right, solving puzzles, playing cards, and eating out with her family and friends. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Greenwood Fire Company #1 for many years. She initially attended both Calvary Wesleyan Church and later attended St. Johnstown United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters: Wanda Bowers and her husband Jeff of Harrington, Carla Parker and her husband Deric of Bridgeville, and Bobbi Collins of Greenwood; six grandchildren: Jared (Paige) Bowers, Devyn (Tyler) Nicholls, Tanner Bowers, Madelyn (Gibson) Wright, Erin and Brooks Parker, and one sister: Catherine Isaacs of Greenwood, as well as a close friend she called her daughter: Karen Craft (E.T.) of Sudlersville, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 4:00 at St. Johnstown United Methodist Church in Greenwood with the Reverend Bruce Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00.
