Peggy S. Remeikis
Tilghman, Peggy S. Remeikis, of Tilghman, died at the Corsica Hills Nursing & Rehab Center, Centreville on Monday, April 9, 2012. She was 90.
Born on Tilghman Island on August 12, 1921 she was the daughter of the late John L. and Carrie M. Sinclair Lomax. Peggy grew up on Tilghman, then as a young adult moved to Baltimore, where she worked at Crown Cork & Seal. While living in there, she met Anthony J. Remeikis, a Baltimore City Police Officer. Peggy and Tony where married and made their home in Baltimore until returning to her beloved Tilghman in 1967. Mr. Remeikis died in 1985.
Mrs. Remeikis, or Peggy as everyone knew her worked at various places on Tilghman that included Tilghman Packing Co, and later Harrison’s Chesapeake House where she felt like one of the family. Most of all she was a devoted homemaker caring for her family.
Mrs. Remeikis, is survived by her two sons; Anthony J. Remeikis, Jr., and his wife Bonnie of Sherwood, Mark Andrew Remeikis and his companion Lynn Kupser of Easton, three grandchildren; Ashleigh Remeikis, A.J. Remeikis III, and Jason Shores, two Great-grandchildren; Nathan and Natalie. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother; Jack Lomax, three sisters; Regina Prettyman, Grace Sweitzer, and Ada Correa.
A memorial Service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Tilghman United Methodist Church, Tilghman, MD.
Burial at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Eastern-Shore will be private.
