Percy L. Sample's Obituary
Percy Lee Sample of Cambridge, MD passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at his home. He was 61 years old.
Percy was born Aug. 19, 1947 in Federalsburg, MD the son of the late Ernest and Maggie Mapp Sample.
He was a graduate of Mace’s Lane Class of 1965. He served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked for the former Zaffree’s Bakery for ten years, and had also been employed by Acme Markets as a cashier and porter for over 17 years.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Virginia Briggs Sample, whom he married on July 28, 1972, 4 children, Patricia Thompson of Millsboro, DE, Andre Batson of Hurlock, MD, James Copeland of Chicago, IL, and Charlotte Bell of Cambridge; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers Jerome Sample of Cordova, MD and Kenneth Sample of Cambridge.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ernest Sample, Jr. and Leon Sample.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Pastor Bernadette Valez officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Beulah, MD. Friends may call the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.
