Peter F. Libby
Easton, Peter Francis Libby of Easton died at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center on Monday, November 24, 2014. He was 51. Born in Baltimore on December 18, 1962, he was the son of Therissa Jane Libby of Annapolis and the late Reverend James Donald Libby. He graduated from the Macqueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1985 and worked as a staff nurse and assistant head nurse at Memorial Hospital in Easton for the next 15 years. He then worked at Spa Creek Center in Annapolis as Director of the Functional Evaluation and Treatment Unit and then as Director of Nursing for the entire facility. He was further promoted to Clinical Services Manager, with oversight of nursing practice at a number of Genesis facilities in Maryland. In 2001 he retired due to ill health.
He was always extremely proud to be a nurse and did whatever he could to remain active in the profession after his retirement. Whether it was helping teach a course at Chesapeake College or serving as the Education Chair for the Maryland Association for Healthcare Quality, he gave it his all.
He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Linda Trippe, who he married on May 20, 1989. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Therissa Libby, her partner, Roxanne, and their daughter, Libby (Minnesota), his sister, Sallie Mullikin (North Carolina), his father in law and mother in law Richard and Marian Trippe (Easton) and his brother in law, Richard Trippe, Jr and his wife Beth (Easton) and their children, Abbie (Black) and Rick. He also leaves behind Sweet Pea and Maddie, the family dogs he loved so much.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Trinity Cathedral, 315 Goldsborough Street, Easton, on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers Peter requested donations be made to the following: Christ Church Restoration Fund, 111 South Harrison Street, Easton, MD; 21601, the Wounded Warriors Project, 1120 G Street N.W., Washington, D.C. 20005, or the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 9475 Deereco Rd., Deer Park Center Suite 306, Timonium, MD, 21093.
