Phyllis A. Butler
Easton, Phyllis Asmussen Butler of Easton, died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton on Thursday, October 18, 2012. She was 79. Born on June 29, 1933 in Church Creek, Dorchester Co. she was the daughter of the late, William Elmo and Virginia Malkus Asmussen. She graduated from Easton High School in 1952, and in 1953 she married Glenn Craft Butler. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Economy Furniture, Hanks Seafood and the France Co. she then retired to operate the Star Route Kennels in Trappe. She raised Golden Retrievers and Chesapeake Bay retrievers. They also showed dogs, which included the top Chesapeake in the U.S. Mrs. Butler enjoyed shopping for and selling antiques, and collecting teddy bears. She enjoyed working in her flower garden. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Butler is survived by her daughter; Glenda B. Andrew and her husband Howard, of Cordova, a grandson; B. Joshua Andrew of Silver Spring, one brother; Charles Asmussen of Trappe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, and a sister Thelma A. Perry. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church, Hillsboro, MD. Friends may call on Sunday at the Hurley & Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. of St. Michaels from 4:00 to 6:00PM and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro. Phyllis always loved her dogs, so in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Talbot Co. Humane Society, P.O. Box 1143 Easton, MD. 21601.
