Ralph Russell Jr.'s Obituary
Ralph C. Russell, Jr. of Federalsburg passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Envoy of Denton. He was 92.
He was born and raised on April 17, 1924 in New York, a son of the late Ralph C. Russell, Sr. and Christine Pedersen. He later entered the United States Navy and then moved to Federalsburg. On September 24, 1949, he married the former Helen Meluney, who preceded him in death on February 14, 2007.
Ralph was a self-employed poultry farmer his entire life. He enjoyed the peaceful, outdoor, countryside, farm life. He was also a people person and could often be seen talking to others. He enjoyed good food and watching racing. Most of all, Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, who he adored. He was a member of the American Legion Post #29 in Denton.
He is survived by a son Gregory Russell, Sr. and his wife Julie of Federalsburg, a daughter Susan Russell of Easton; three grandchildren Megan Russell of Federalsburg, Gregory Russell, Jr. and his wife Kim of Laurel, and Amber Russell of Federalsburg; a great granddaughter Allie Russell of Laurel, two sister in laws Hester White of Seaford and Lib Meluney of Dover; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Russell Breeding.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Concord Cemetery in Federalsburg with Reverend Dan Gedman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #29, 9238 Legion Rd, Denton, MD 21629.
