Ray J. Jones
Wittman, Ray J. Jones of Wittman, died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton, on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 with his family at his side. He was 88. Born in Patterson, N.J.,on September 12, 1923, he was the son of the late James M.Jones and Olive Bell Lomax Jones. After graduating from St. Michaels High School, Mr. Jones worked for the Cox Distributing Co., in Easton and later as an Easton Police Officer. A lifelong resident of Wittman, he in the early 1950's began an oyster business, this escalated into a full time seafood processing plant, Ray J. Jones Seafood Co. which he and his family operated from 1966 until its closing in 1989. His beloved wife the former Joyce Roach, whom he had married in 1942, died on July 9th less than a month ago. Mr. Jones was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Wittman, MD. Mr. Jones is survived by a son; Rodney W. Jones and his wife JoAnn , one daughter-in-law Betty Jones, all of Wittman, six Grandchildren; Troy Jones, Shannon Jones, Kim Bryan, Tammy Swartz, Kristen, and Zachary, seven Great-Grandchildren; Logan, Lexi, Cade, Jake, Caleb, Ronnie Lee and Sadie. In addition to his parents, and his wife he was preceded in death by a son; Ray J. Jones Jr. a Great Grandson; Josh Bryan, and a brother Fred Greenfield. Services will be private. Arrangements are by the Hurley & Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. St. Michaels. .
