Raymond Lee Morris' Obituary
Raymond Lee Morris also affectionately known as uncle (Junnie/ Catfish) entered this life on January 2,1956 to the late Raymond Lee Morris and the late Ida V Morris. He departed this life on July 3, 2020 suddenly.
Raymond received his education from Sussex Central, located in Georgetown, Delaware where he graduated in 1974 and received his High School Diploma. Upon graduation Raymond enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Sgt.E-5 until 1976. After returning home from the Army, he met his loving wife Sherri and was united in marriage in 1981. They were together for 39 beautiful years until his passing.
Raymond was a member of United Church of The Lord Jesus Christ, Apostolic Inc. Denton, Maryland. He was a dedicated and willing worker at church. He loved to sing and play the guitar.
Raymond had many talents and work skills. He was Maintenance/ Security Guard at the Methodist Manor House in Seaford, Delaware. A Certified Plumber, he was employed with Asplundh Tree Expert Co, a driver for Moores Trucking Co. and went onto drive trucks for Reeds Trucking Co. until his illness. Raymond was a dedicated fire fighter for 27 years with the Blades 71 Fire Department in Blades. He also presided as the acting Chaplin for the fire department from 1995 until his passing. He had retired from active duties as a Fireman and will always be an Honored Fire Fighter for the department.
Raymond had many hobbies that he enjoyed doing in his free time. He loved crabbing, fishing, hunting, singing, playing the guitar, in which he was a member of a Gospel Group called the Gospel Quintets. He loved writing poems, he also enjoyed working on cars for family and friends.
Preceding him in death, his father Raymond Lee Morris, mother Ida V. Morris, 3 brothers Robert Ruffin Sr, John Ruffin, Timothy Morris, 3 sisters Anna Tingle, Dorothy Gibbs and Florence Andrews. Shortly after his passing, his beautiful wife Sherri Lee Morris of 39 years passed away on July,13 2020. He leaves to cherish his memories, 1 daughter Cindy Lee Morris, 1 granddaughter Tayleah Short, 1 foster-daughter Shannal Jones, Godson Harrell Richards and Goddaughter Willshyra Richards Akogau, 4 brothers Alvin Morris of Cape Canaveral, FL, Raymond Morris of Georgetown, DE and Paul Morris (Mona), of Seaford, DE, 7 sisters Mary Bailey ( Larry) Illinois, Faye Johnson ( Alfred) of Seaford,DE, Adele Morris of Ocala, Florida, Peggy Williams of Seaford, DE, Carolyn Mitchner (Robert) of Georgetown DE, Vivian Burton (Marvin) of Bridgeville DE, Francine Shockley (Ivin) of Slaughterneck, DE, 2 sister-in-laws Zara Gambrell of Seaford, DE and Delmeta Young (Charles) of Houston, DE and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
