Rebecca Elaine Marie Cannon Waples Andrews' Obituary
Rebecca Andrews, affectionately known as "Mother Andrews," peacefully departed this life on May 31, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 25, 1945, Rebecca lived a life devoted to her faith, family, and community.
Rebecca was educated in Delaware public schools and proudly graduated from James H. Groves High School in Georgetown, Delaware, in 1989.
A faithful servant of God, Rebecca dedicated her life to ministry and service. She was a devoted member of All Walks of Life Outreach, and faithfully served as the Mother of the Church. She also attended Clarence Street Church of God in Seaford, Delaware, where she served as President of the Usher Board. Her services extended to the Women of Judah Dance Ministry, the church choir, Joy Bells, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and numerous other ministries that touched the lives of many.
Rebecca found great joy in worship, Bible study, church events, and celebrating life's special moments with family and friends. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching faith-based movies, completing jigsaw puzzles, arts and crafts, crocheting, and spending Saturdays riding out with her girls, especially when those outings included a visit to her favorite store, Boscov's.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her beloved parents, the late Reverend Alberta Bertha Waples and Gilbert Waples; her sister, Alberta Jeanette Jenkins; her two cherished great-grandsons, Dehaven J. Nichols and Malachi Lafazia-Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her husband Joseph Andrews, her loving children: Roberta Johnson (Curtis Johnson), Linda Andrews (Roland Andrews), Melissa Colson (Larry Colson), and James Jenkins (Cynthia Pruitt-Jenkins).
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, two God Children, Nyia Harmon and Kaiden Dehaven Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and a host of others whose lives were blessed by her love, wisdom, faith, and unwavering devotion.
Rebecca's legacy of faith, kindness, service, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
- Matthew 25:23
