Richard Lee Bowdle's Obituary
Richard Lee Bowdle of Federalsburg passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 79.
He was born June 9, 1934 in Cambridge, MD, the son of the late Thomas Bowdle and Virginia Corkran Bowdle.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. After his service, he married Faye Fisher Bowdle on November 7, 1959. He began his lifelong career as a millwright for E.I. Dupont Co. until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Federalsburg VFW Post #5246 and the Dupont Retiree Club. He was a man who loved to help people by fixing things, tinkering in his garage and spending time with his family and friends. He also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and raising Beagles.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Fisher Bowdle, two children Richard Bowdle, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Denton, and Cathy Collins and her husband Craig of Federalsburg, three grandchildren, Emily, Jessica and Sarah Bowdle, two sisters, Shirley Truitt of Whaleyville and Jean Bramble and her husband Otis of Vienna, three brothers-in-law, Edgar Howard and his wife Rita of Bristol, CT, Jack Fisher and his wife Carlis of Seaford, DE, and Charles Griffith of Federalsburg.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, near Beulah.
