Richard F. Carlisle's Obituary
Richard F Carlisle of Bridgeville passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Tidal Heath at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. He was 81.
He was born on September 10, 1944 in Milford, Delaware; the son of the late William H Carlisle, Jr., and Naoma Farber Carlisle.
He graduated from Bridgeville High School with the class of 1962. He later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Engineering from the University of Delaware. He served in the United States Army Reserve for six years.
He was married to Kathryn Banning Carlisle on November 21, 1970.
He devoted his life to his family and his farming. He served in numerous community organizations such as the Farm Bureau, NRA, Sussex County Soil Conservation, FFA and the St Johnstown Cemetery Association. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn "Kathy" Carlisle of Bridgeville, two sons: Richard B Carlisle, Sr and his wife Audrey of Greenwood, and Cameron S Carlisle and his partner Melissa Rasail of Bridgeville; one daughter: Jessica Cole and her husband Kelly of Cumberland, Maryland; four grandchildren: Kayla Carlisle and her partner David Hopkins, Ricky Carlisle, Jr. and his wife Megan, Hayden Carlisle and Wyatt Cole, four great grandchildren: Brinleigh Mullins, Cash Mullins, Hadley Hopkins and Oaklee Hopkins; one brother: Keith Carlisle and his wife Carol of Greenwood; and a nephew Will Carlisle of Greenwood.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 2:00 at Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville with the Reverend Tom Connar officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Union Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws St., Bridgeville, DE 19933.
