Richard Bogue Forrest's Obituary
Richard Bogue Forrest, age 57, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home in Royal Oak, MD. He was born in Takoma Park, MD, on April 8, 1959, the son of the late Cecil Raymond Forrest and V. Marie Bogue Forrest.
He was a dedicated caretaker for several estates in Talbot County throughout his career. He felt most comfortable outdoors, surrounded by nature. Arrow head hunting and collecting shark teeth were a favorite pastime that kept him connected to his beliefs and the Earth. His collections are one of a kind.
Rick was renowned as a brilliant songwriter & musician who touched thousands of lives with his music. He taught music at the St. Michaels Community Center and mentored many musicians while hosting local jam sessions. He was always eager to nurture and encourage the talent of others. His talent and skill with the guitar was a gift to those lucky enough to hear him play. His many popular and masterfully written songs were performed from his heart and will forever live in those who heard them. He had a longstanding request to perform at the St. Michaels Community Centers Summer Concert Series, the local Farmers Markets and at the Pickering Creek Hoedown. Rick will be best remembered hosting open mic night at the old Pasadena Inn, Pepperjacks, Manny’s, The Washington St. Pub and other local hot spots of great food and music. He was thoroughly devoted to his family at the Royal Oak Community United Methodist Church where he had served on the Board of Trustees and played for church services.
He was a kind and passionate man who had a beautiful spirit and his love for his family and friends was truly genuine and deep.
Mr. Forrest is survived by his daughter Zuzu Forrest (Joe Callahan, fiancé) of Sudersville and her mother Nancy Forrest of Easton; a grandson Ronan Forrest of Sudersville; a step-mom Rose Ann Forrest of Easton; six siblings: Trish Payne, Kenny Forrest, Steve Guertin, Kevin Guertin , Shari Widman and Debbie Hanibal; two nieces: Kelsey Spiker and Kristen Payne and seven nephews: Ted Hanibal III, Jason and Justin Widmann, Taylor, Nicholas and Ethan Forrest and Jake Guertin as well as his lifelong friends, musicians and of AA family.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Steve Forrest.
Services will be held at the Royal Oak Community United Methodist Church on Bellevue Road in St. Michaels, MD on Sunday, April 30 at 2 pm. It will be followed by an open-mic music celebration on the Church lawn and include a pot-luck picnic buffet.
