Richard Lee Knox's Obituary
Richard Lee Knox, known by the name "Baseball", of Cambridge, MD passed away suddenly at his home on January 24, 2025 at the age of 72.
He was born in Cambridge, MD on August 21, 1952 to the late Charles and Thelma Miller Knox.
Baseball was a skilled carpenter all of his life. In his early years he worked for Hurlock Lumber Company, later he became self-employed and ended his career at DSA in Cambridge. He enjoyed playing golf and hanging out with his friends at his favorite local spots; Snappers and Eastside (now known as Portside). Baseball, a nickname which he acquired in high school through his passion for the sport, was a true Washington Nationals fan. He knew everything there is to know about the game. Baseball never met a stranger that he could not make laugh through one of his many stories. He will be fondly remembered by his Washington Nationals baseball cap, a 10oz Budweiser and a pack of Marlboros. As cantankerous as he was, his kind heart showed through by doing anything for anyone without asking for a thing in return. He will be incredibly missed by his family and many many great friends.
He is survived by his siblings Patricia Knox Short (Ron) of East New Market and Rodney Knox (Lori) of Cambridge. He also leaves behind his niece Emily Willey (Bryan) and their son Mitchell Knox Willey of East New Market and his nephews Joshua, Jonathan and Justin Knox of Cambridge.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
Services will be private per his request.
