Richard K. Wright's Obituary
Richard K. Wright of Greenwood DE passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE. He was 79.
He was born on March 14, 1942 in Easton, Maryland, the son of the late Kenneth R. Wright and Ethel Bramble Hunt.
At the age of 17, Richard enlisted in the United States Army. He served during Vietnam under the Big Red One Unit, earning two Purple Hearts for his fearless service. He retired after 20 years and continued to serve with the Department of Defense in Adelphi, Maryland until his retirement in 2002.
He was married to Patricia Harding Wright on May 20, 1978. They lived in Ferndale Md. and later retired to Greenwood, DE. During their time here, he became a member of Crossroad Community Church where he continued his life of service to others. He loved to serve as an usher, served on the Crossroad Companions assisting shut-ins with housework and delivering meals, and offering assistance to widows and those in need. He loved to serve the Lord and enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wright of Greenwood, a daughter: Vickie Spitler of Jacksonville, FL, a stepson, Jay Stichberry of Fort Meade, MD; and five grandchildren: Jayson Stichberry, Courtney Stichberry, Megan Couch and her husband Jake, Amanda Emerson and Kyle Norton.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on a Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown. The family will receive friends starting at 10 a.m. that same morning. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown DE, 19947.
