Rickey Lee Corkran, Sr's Obituary
Rickey Lee Corkran, Sr. of Federalsburg passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice in Berlin, Maryland on Friday, June 26, 2026 following a nine month battle with cancer . He was 71 years old.
Rickey was born in Puckum, Maryland on July 21, 1954. He was the son of the late Grover C. Corkran, Sr. and the late Norma Donovan Corkran. Later his family moved to Preston and it was there that Rickey attended school.
At a young age Rickey became a tractor trailer driver and logged many miles over the years. He also worked as a logger and eventually took up farming and raised chickens. As busy with work as he was, Rickey went back to school and earned his GED and even completed some college level courses in wood working and masonry.
In April of 2000 Rickey met Sharon Disney while horseback riding on some trails. He courted her by leaving little gifts in her horse trailer. Sharon was the love of his life, and he made sure to tell everyone that fact. They married on Valentine's Day of 2009 and together they shared a total of 26 years together. Rickey and Sharon always said the movie "Pure Country" was their life. They knew there would be storms along the way, but they overcame them all. Together they joined and rode with the Maryland Rough Riders doing parades and trails. Rickey also taught Sharon how to hunt, fish, and drive the Farm All tractor turning her into a farmer.
Together Rickey and Sharon began a life in faith at Trappe United Methodist in Trappe, Maryland. Rickey enjoyed cooking breakfasts on Saturdays at the church. He was a fantastic cook, and he loved cooking Sharon her favorites and bringing her bouquets of flowers.
Rickey is survived by his life time love and wife Sharon Disney; his sons Wade Mulligan (Kim) and Rickey L. Corkran, Jr.; his daughter Tracy Hawkins; and his half-sister Betty Donoway. Rickey is also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding Rickey in death in addition to his parents are his brothers Grover C. "Peanut" Corkran, Jr., George Matthews and David Corkran; his half-brother Pete Corkran (Margie); and his sisters Ruth Ann Corkran, Barbara Travers (Richard), Linda Faulkner (Steve); and his half-sisters Joyce Corkran and Shirley Hollingsworth (Bob).
A graveside service will be scheduled later for Zion Cemetery near Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers it is asked that donations be made directly to Framptom Funeral Home, 216 N. Main Street, Federalsburg, MD 21632 to help Sharon with funeral expenses.
