Robert Gary Bates' Obituary
Robert Gary Bates (Skeeter) Owner and Operator of Outkast Trucking of Federalsburg, MD went home to be with the lord on February 2, 2022 at the age of 44.
Son of Tami Canatella Dennis (Rob) of Bridgeville, Gary Robert Bates (Deborah) of Waldorf, MD and the man who raised him and that he had the privilege to call Dad, William Lederer (June) of Federalsburg, MD
Robert was born in Washington D.C on November 9, 1977 and graduated from Colonel Richardson High school in 1996.
Robert devoted his life to taking care of his boys and family. He enjoyed making people laugh with his humor, playing pranks, speaking in his own language "Robinese", or showing off his unique dance moves. He had the ability to fill the room with so much joyful energy just by walking in. Most Friday nights were spent with his wife and boys watching a movie and eating U5 pizza.
Robert had a passion for trucking. He started Outkast Trucking in 2016 and worked hard everyday to give his wife and children a better life. Before that he enjoyed operating heavy equipment and worked for Hopkins construction and Onsite construction as a foreman. He enjoyed taking trips with family and friends and was known to be the preparation king as he would make sure everything was thought of. He would help anyone in need whether it be someone stranded on the side of the road or an elderly lady needing help to unload her groceries in her car. He gave his life to the lord in 2018 and shared a special day of getting baptized with his dad Billy in 2019.
Robert found his soulmate and never missed a morning "I love you" text or a midday call to check in and say the words himself (most times more then once a day.)
Robert is survived by his wife of 14 years Christina (Avery) Bates, Sons Trent and Carter Bates (Federalsburg) Stepsons Kyle Avery (New Hampshire) and Tyler Wells (Federalsburg) Brothers William (BJ) Lederer Jr (Jessica), Gary Lee Bates, David Bates, and sister Patricia Wilson. Grandson Brayden Gerlack (New Hampshire) Grandmother Paula Pritchett and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a few close friends he thought of as brothers.
Services will be held at Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown DE on Friday February 11, 2022 with visitation starting at 4pm followed by service at 5pm
