Pastor Robert Gordon Hayes' Obituary
Pastor Robert Gordon Hayes passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He was 72.
He was born on September 16, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Carl Clayton Hayes and Flossie Mae Schaffer Muncie, and step son of Charles A. Miller.
He was a veteran serving his country through the United States Navy. Gordon served as the former pastor at Denton Wayside Church and New Liberty Wesleyan Church. He also worked at the All American Breed horse farm in Federalsburg. He was a Star Wars enthusiast and enjoyed going fishing. One of his greatest loves was to spend time with his family.
Gordon is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Linda Rae Edwards Hayes, whom he married October 26, 1962, three sons, Robert H. Hayes and his wife, Nilda of Federalsburg, Danny R. Hayes and his wife, Lisa of Wittman, Michael W. Hayes and his wife Christine of Easton, 1 grandson, 5 granddaughters, 1 great-grandson, his brother, Jimmy Hayes of Lancaster, Ohio, and his dog, Pinkie. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Strausbaugh.
Funeral services for him will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at New Liberty Wesleyan Church in Federalsburg with Rev. Eddie Elms officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11 am. – 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. In lieu of flowers, Gordon’s wishes were to have people give to missionaries to help spread the love of Jesus around the world. Arrangements by Framptom Funeral Home.
