Robert S. Horner Robert S. Horner, 92, passed away peacefully at Talbot Hospice House on October 14, 2016. Beloved husband of 66 years of Charlotte D. Horner; loving father of Cheryl Ann Shirk (Frank) and Charlene Ruth Carney; grandfather of Adrian Shirk, Ashley Shirk DiCarlo (Francis) and Jordan Carney. Great-grandfather of Alexander DiCarlo. Survived by sister Ruby Ickes and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son-in-law, Dr. E. Kent Carney, parents Jacob and Zora Horner, brothers Jack and Richard, and sisters Mildred, Ruth and Betty. Born May 21, 1924 in Boswell, PA, Robert served in WWII – 6th Division – 20th Infantry, in the South Pacific and occupation of Korea post-WWII. He was awarded many medals, including the Bronze Star. Robert retired from Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point after 30 years as a foreman in the Open Hearth, relocating to Easton to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of American Legion, Post 70 and 6th Division Association. Robert was a communicant at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cordova. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cordova on Monday, October 24, 2016 at noon. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cordova or Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD.
