Robert Henry Lorenz's Obituary
Robert H. Lorenz of Preston passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, Maryland. He was 88 years old.
He was born on August 14, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late George Lorenz and Emma Geisslinger Lorenz.
After graduating High School he worked as a draftsman while attending night school at Temple University ultimately graduating with a degree in architecture. Over the course of his career as an architect he worked for Preston Trucking and Nanticoke Homes and served many area builders and contractors. He enjoyed his work and was known for his sense of pride and talent.
He was married on February 10, 1962 to Sandra Rose Lorenz and they made their home initially in Philadelphia, PA before moving to Preston in 1976. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2008.
A long time faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston, Robert served on many boards and committees over the years. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), The American Historic Preservation of Covered Bridges, Preston Historical Society, The Restoration of Linchester Mill, and the Vereinigung Erzgebirge (VE) of Warminister, PA. He also served on the Planning and Zoning Board for the Town of Preston.
In his spare time he enjoyed reading and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters: Susan Frazier and her husband Elliott and Christina Nagel and her husband Milton all of Federalsburg; three grandchildren: Lauren Merrick (Glenn), Austin Frazier (Tori), and J.T. Nagel (Maddi); and four great-grandchildren: Mason Merrick, Rhett Merrick, Weston Nagel and Brew Frazier.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Nagel and a brother Frank Lorenz.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 12:00 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston. The Reverend David Casey-Motley will officiate. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Lucas Nagel Memorial Fund for First Responders care of The Mid-Shore Community Foundation , 102 East Dover Street, Easton MD 21601.
