Robert Marshall Richardson's Obituary
Robert Marshall Richardson of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 87.
He was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Federalsburg, the son of the late William Ralph Richardson, Sr. and Vera MacDonald Richardson.
Mr. Richardson served in the U. S. Navy during WW II, serving on the USS New Jersey battleship from the time it was commissioned and for the duration of the war. He retired from E.I. DuPont Company in the Power Service Department after 38 years of employment. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Federalsburg V.F.W. Post 5246, a member of the American Legion Post 6 in Seaford, and a member of the Moose Lodge 1728 in Seaford, DE. He attended Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg. Marshall was an avid surf fisherman at Fenwick, Assateague, Cape Hatteras, and Broadkill Beach. Winning many awards, he enjoyed this sport from the age of 16 until October 2012. He also enjoyed playing pool and watching the Baltimore Orioles.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenna Lucille Jackson Richardson, two daughters, Gloria Richardson Brake and her husband, Hamilton, of Cambridge, and Marsha Richardson Kenton and her husband, Dale, of Preston; 3 grandchildren Sarah E. Wheatley and her husband, Steve, of Crofton, MD, Maureen Kenton Garcia and her husband, Phillip, of San Antonio, TX, and Ryan Dale Kenton of Preston; one great-grandson Landon Joseph Garcia, and another soon arriving great-grandchild, a brother William R. Richardson and his wife Anita of Federalsburg, and many nieces and nephews. A brother Jack Richardson and an infant sister Jean Richardson preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Dan Gedman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may on Monday at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. A VFW service will be held at 7:00 on Monday.
