Robert Sidney Riggin's Obituary
Robert Sidney Riggin of Federalsburg, MD passed away peacefully at Tidal Health - Nanticoke in Seaford, DE on Friday, November 29, 2024. He was 77 years old.
Robert was born on June 27, 1947 in Salisbury, MD to the late Lee P. and Doris H. Riggin. After graduating from Laurel High School in 1965, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps and was stationed with the First Marine Air Wing in Vietnam. Robert was a Lance Corporal and served until he was honorably discharged on April 30, 1969. He later graduated cum laude from Delaware Tech in 2001.
Although Robert worked in diverse professions, his favorite five jobs were Yacht Maintenance, Nations and Mercantile Banks, M & M Refrigeration, and Preston Ford.
He served his community by being a lay speaker, choir member and treasurer at Union United Methodist Church, as well as memberships in Elks Lodge #1272, Ruritan Club, Lions Club, Federalsburg Historical Society, and the Threshermens Association.
Robert travelled extensively with his wife of thirty-eight years and his sister and brother-in-law. He enjoyed photography, golfing, and playing cards. But Robert's true passions were the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, and University of Delaware Football.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Debbie; his sister Connie Rice (Bryan); son Kyle Riggin (Lanai) and family; nephew Stephen Chapis (Germaine); niece Stephanie Buchert (Todd); and numerous cousins. He is also survived by special friends Duane, Elaine, and Kirra Cordeiro; and Flora Luthy.
Robert was predeceased by his son Kevin Lee Riggin, and his parents Doris and Lee P. Riggin.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, MD starting at 11am. A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 10am at Union United Methodist Church. Interment will take place in the family lot at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Laurel, DE.
