Robert I. Adams, Sr. St. Michaels, Robert Irvin “Sapo†Adams, Sr. of St. Michaels, died at Genesis Health Care “The Pines†on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was 82. Born on February 16, 1933 he was the son of the late, Clarence Adams. and Laura Morris Adams. He attended public school on St. Michaels, then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served his Country with pride during the Korean conflict, with the “Hell on Wheels†Division. He served actively for2 years then on reserves for an additional 8 years. Following his release from active duty, he returned to his beloved St. Michaels, where he began a lifelong career as a commercial waterman, working primarily on Miles River. On June 28, 1957 he married AnnaBelle Louise Holland at the parsonage in Sherwood, MD; they made their home in St. Michaels. Bobby loved his lifelong home of St. Michaels, he was a member of the St. Michaels Fire dept. for many years, his true passion was softball. He was a prominent force on the baseball, and softball fields where he played vigorously, and umpired as well. Bobby was interested in all sports, especially the Orioles. In later years he enjoyed carving, and was an avid Ravens fan. He was inducted into the softball hall of fame on April 8, 2000. For many years he raced log canoes on the Miles River. Bobby was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, E.E. Streets Post 5118 V.F.W., Easton, and the Maryland Waterman’s Association. Bobby was known for his strong sense of humor, with the ability to make people smile. He was always there with a helping hand for his family and friends, his door was always open. In addition to his beloved wife AnnaBelle, he survived by his children; Terri Hill (Scott), Sherry Roberts (Mike), Bobby Adams, Jr.(Suda), Bobbie Ann Harris (Billy), D.D. Adams (Becky) Grandchildren; Ricky, Bobby, Melissa, Sara, April, Shaylee, Tommy, Brianna, Jessica, and Abigail. Great-grandchildren; Ricky,III, Skylar, Taylor, Luke, Seth, Christina, Bobby, Jade, Ty, Nisia, Nathan, Chloe, Isabelle,Iziah, Isaiah, Ilijah and Andrae. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in the community. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; William K. “Brother†Adams, Sr. Chapel services will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00AM. A viewing will be held on Sunday March 8, 2015 at the Ostrowski Funeral Home 312 S. Talbot St. St. Michaels, from 2 to 4 Pm. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to the St. Michaels Fire Dept. 1001 S. Talbot St. St. Michaels, MD. 21663.
